On Friday, US President Donald Trump doubled down on his audacious claim of single-handedly forging peace between India and Pakistan, griping that he’ll never snag a Nobel Peace Prize for “averting” a potential war between the nuclear-armed neighbors last month.

India, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself at a recent summit, has fiercely countered that the New Delhi-Islamabad ceasefire was born from gritty, direct military negotiations, with no trace of Washington’s mediation.

I won’t be crowned with a Nobel Prize for halting the India-Pakistan clash! No Nobel for quelling Serbia-Kosovo tensions, no Nobel for securing peace between Egypt and Ethiopia, and no Nobel for masterminding the Abraham Accords in the Middle East!” Trump thundered on his Truth Social platform.

Absolutely no Nobel Peace Prize for me, no matter what miracles I pull off Russia-Ukraine, Israel-Iran, you name it! But the people see the truth, and that’s what fuels me! he roared.

US President Donald Trump touted his role in brokering a peace agreement in Washington between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, proclaiming, This is a monumental day for Africa and, honestly, a triumph for the world! No Nobel Peace Prize for me, though.

India has steadfastly rejected claims of US involvement in de-escalating tensions with Pakistan, sparked by Operation Sindoor following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

New Delhi has repeatedly stressed that neither Washington nor any third party influenced its decision to halt military actions against Islamabad.

India has consistently affirmed that on May 10, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations urgently requested a dialogue with his Indian counterpart after India’s precision strikes on multiple Pakistani airbases, including the critical Nur Khan airbase, as part of Operation Sindoor. On that day, India and Pakistan forged an agreement to halt hostilities following four days of relentless cross-border drone and missile exchanges.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a 35-minute phone call with President Donald Trump, focusing primarily on the operation, and firmly clarified that neither India-US trade negotiations nor US mediation in the India-Pakistan peace process were ever on the table.

Yet, President Trump persisted in claiming credit for the ceasefire. “I brought peace between Pakistan I adore Pakistan and India.

Modi’s a remarkable leader, we spoke just last night. We’re crafting a major trade deal with India, he declared earlier this week. I stopped that war. This man likely Asim Munir was a powerhouse in calming things from Pakistan’s side, with Modi leading India’s charge. They were locked in fierce conflict, both nuclear powers, and I made it stop.

Lamenting the media’s silence, he added, Not a single story covered this, did I miss one? I halted a clash between two colossal nuclear nations, and yet, no headlines. But that’s fine the people know the truth.

In a striking move, Pakistan’s government announced its intent to formally nominate Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, citing his bold diplomatic leadership and critical role in resolving the recent India-Pakistan crisis.

On Wednesday, Trump welcomed Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, for an unprecedented lunch at the White House.

The Nobel Peace Prize, per its official website, celebrates transformative contributions in four key domains: arms control and disarmament, peace brokering, democracy and human rights, and efforts to foster a more harmonious and organized global order.
