On Saturday, Iran issued a strong condemnation of U.S. President Donald Trump's provocative remarks targeting Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, just one day after the revered leader delivered a triumphant victory speech.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sharply rebuked Trump, admonishing that if he seeks to foster any meaningful dialogue or mutual understanding with the Supreme Leader, he must completely abandon his belligerent and disrespectful tone.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi urged U.S. President Donald Trump to abandon his offensive and unacceptable rhetoric toward Grand Ayatollah Khamenei if he genuinely seeks a diplomatic agreement, emphasizing that such a tone disrespects the Supreme Leader and deeply offends his millions of devoted followers, as stated in a post on the social media platform X.
Araghchi further asserted that the Israeli regime was compelled to seek U.S. protection to escape being overwhelmed by Iran's missile capabilities, underscoring Iran's fierce commitment to its sovereignty and its intolerance for threats and insults.
Trump's comments about Khamenei followed the Supreme Leader’s first address after a ceasefire announcement, in which Khamenei remarked that Trump had misrepresented events in an exaggerated manner, claiming the Islamic Republic's victory delivered a significant blow to the United States.
I spared him from a humiliating and disgraceful demise.
Hours before Araghchi’s statement, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, claiming he had protected Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei from a gruesome demise. I SHIELDED HIM FROM A HORRIFIC AND SHAMEFUL END, Trump declared in his post.
The U.S. President challenged Khamenei’s assertion of victory in the conflict with Israel, questioning why the Supreme Leader had recklessly and falsely proclaimed triumph.…when he knows his claim is untrue, it is simply not the case. As a man of deep faith, he should not deceive, Trump stated.
He asserted that Iran had been devastated, noting that the country’s three dangerous nuclear facilities had been completely destroyed. Trump claimed he knew precisely where Khamenei was hiding and had prevented Israel and U.S. forces from targeting him.
Additionally, he alleged that he persuaded Israel to recall a
massive fleet of aircraft headed toward Tehran for a
decisive strike. Trump warned that such an attack would have caused catastrophic destruction and resulted in significant loss of Iranian lives, describing it as potentially the most devastating assault in the Israel-Iran conflict.
Was exploring potential lifting of sanctions on Iran
In his Truth Social post, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed he had been actively exploring the possibility of easing sanctions on Iran in recent days, stating that such a move would have offered Iran a stronger opportunity for a swift, comprehensive, and robust recovery.
However, Trump declared that he abandoned all efforts toward sanction relief following what he described as Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s hostile, hateful, and contemptuous remarks.
He further warned Iran to reintegrate into the global order, cautioning that failure to do so would lead to even graver consequences.
They are perpetually filled with anger, hostility, and discontent, and see what it has brought them a ravaged, destroyed nation with no prospects, a shattered military, a collapsing economy, and death surrounding them, Trump stated.
